TurkoTek: Rugs and Tribal Weavings
This noncommercial site focuses on textiles and tribal weavings from the Caucasus and Central Asia. It hosts a virtual salon in which chosen topics are discussed and later archived. Also included are weaving maps for Turkoman and Caucasian groups, as well as attribution guides that describe the main characteristics of the featured weaving groups including Chodor, Salor, Tekke, and Yomut. This site also contains a collection of articles and reviews and hosts a virtual "show and tell" where weaving pictures may be displayed and discussed. A large links collection features educational, discussion, and commercial sites devoted to rugs.
