Escorting a Presidency into History: NARA's Role in a White House Transition
This article describes an "unheralded job" of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA): "planning for the transfer of hundreds of millions of textual, electronic, and audiovisual records, [and gifts]." For the George W. Bush administration, this transfer takes place "at exactly 12 noon on January 20, 2009." Describes history of such transfers to NARA (beginning in 1939 with Franklin D. Roosevelt) and the creation of presidential libraries. From the NARA Prologue magazine.
