The Artists Rights Society originated in France to protect visual artists' copyrights. It now represents over 40,000 artists throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Membership, which is free, provides artists with support for copyright clearance; the ARS also monitors the use and potential abuse of artists' rights. The site provides information on copyright and copyright monitoring and a browsable listing of represented artists.
