North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS)
"A long-term, large-scale, international avian monitoring program initiated ... to track the status and trends of North American bird populations. ... Following a rigorous protocol, BBS data are collected by thousands of dedicated participants along thousands of randomly established roadside routes throughout the continent." Coordinated by the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Wildlife Research Center of the Canadian Wildlife Service.
