The Orphan Train Collection
The Web site "is a collection of magazines, books, newspapers, newsletters, photos, and interviews" on the Orphan Trains era in American history. In the midst of poverty in the mid 1800's, New York City's, homeless and orphaned children were sent by the Children's Aid Society to adopting families in the rural Midwest in what became known as Orphan Trains, in hopes of finding better lives.
