Cayton, Horace (1859-1940)
This article presents biographical information about Seattle newspaperman Horace Cayton. Born in 1859, Cayton was a former slave who worked his way through college before moving to Washington state. The site discusses his career working for Seattle newspapers and publishing the Seattle Republican, "a newspaper directed at both white and black readers and which at one point had the second largest circulation in the city."
