The Museum of the City of New York
This museum "holds more than 1.5 million paintings, prints, photographs, costumes, toys, rare books, manuscripts, sculptures, decorative arts objects, and other artifacts that comprise a treasury of New York City history." The site features an overview of the collection with selected images, and virtual exhibits on subjects such as Work Projects Administration (WPA) photographs of New York, Al Hirschfeld's New York, and 18th century women's shoes.
