Clean Air Interstate Rule
In March 2005, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued "the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR), a rule that will achieve the largest reduction in air pollution in more than a decade." This site features background information and updates about the rule, which mostly affects states in the eastern half the United States through mandates to reduce sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions.
