The PETS Act: All in a Year's Work
This article summarizes the events leading to the passage in October 2006 of the Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS) Act, which "require[s] the Federal Emergency Management Agency to ensure that state and local emergency preparedness operational plans address the needs of individuals with household pets and service animals following a major disaster or emergency."
