Beautiful illustrations, colorful history, and many variants of the tales as they appear in numerous cultures are portrayed. In addition, each tale provides a small discussion of some of the better known treatments by authors and artists in the fields of literature, poetry, music, film, and drama. Bibliographies available. This scholarly work is still in progress by its creator, Heidi Anne Heiner, but nonetheless conjures up vivid images of magical childhood fairy tales.
