Friends of Arthur Machen URL: http://www.machensoc.demon.co.uk/ Description: In some ways Machen can be seen as a British counterpart of H.P. Lovecraft. Both men set many of their stories in their native countrysides, evoking haunting landscapes that bristle with ancient evil. Unlike Lovecraft, Machen thrived in the big city and many of his stories are set in 1890s London as well as the Welsh border country. This site offers a biography, annotated bibliography, and several of his short pieces to read.
