Description:
This site describes the harmful effects of backyard burning on human health and the environment. "Burning trash in the open produces many pollutants [that can cause serious respiratory ailments] including dioxins, ...hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds [VOCs], carbon monoxide, hexachlorobenzene, and ash." Backyard burning "produces various compounds toxic to the environment including nitrogen oxides, VOCs, carbon monoxide, and particle pollution."
