A four-year project conducted by journalism students and their professor at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign to determine the identity of Deep Throat, the insider who provided crucial information about the Watergate break-in to Washington Post reporters Woodward and Bernstein. Students ultimately but incorrectly concluded that former White House deputy counsel Fred Fielding was Deep Throat. Includes discussion of how students came to their erroneous conclusion.
