Description:
This site is a companion to a Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) American Experience program about the 1889-1890 around-the-world journey of pioneering woman journalist Nellie Bly (born Elizabeth Jane Cochran). The site includes a map of the journey (inspired by Jules Verne's "Around the World in 80 Days"), excerpts from her writings, and biographical information. Also includes a transcript of the program and a teacher's guide.
