National Reading Panel (NRP)

Description:
This panel was convened by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) in 1997 "to assess the effectiveness of different approaches used to teach children to read." In 2000, the NRP concluded its work and submitted "The Report of the National Reading Panel: Teaching Children to Read." This site features a summary and the full report, which discusses topics such as phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and teacher education.
