Gas Hydrates

Material from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) about gas hydrates, "which are accumulations of methane (natural gas) trapped in ice-like structures with water," representing "an immense energy resource underlying large portions of the world's marine continental shelves and Arctic continental areas." Features updates about the India, Mallik, and Alaska projects, including the "Assessment of Gas Hydrate Resources on the North Slope, Alaska," released in November 2008.
