A Brief History of Chocolate URL: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/brief-history-of-chocolate.html Description: This 2008 article traces the history of chocolate back to "the Mayans and Aztecs [who] believed the cacao bean had magical, or even divine, properties." Also describes how chocolate became a fashionable drink throughout Europe in the 17th century, and the creation of the first modern chocolate bar in 1847.
