Why Wind Turbines Can Mean Death for Bats URL: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/08/080825132107.htm Description: This 2008 article presents the report results in which researchers found that "at most wind facilities, bats actually die in much greater numbers" than birds. The research found that "ninety percent of the bats ... examined after death showed signs of internal hemorrhaging consistent with trauma from the sudden drop in air pressure ... at turbine blades" while "about half of the bats showed any evidence of direct contact with the blades."
