The Slow Death of the U.S. Postal Service URL: http://www.cato.org/pubs/pas/pa102.html Description: This 1998 article describes the economic situation of the United States mail delivery system over the previous decade and suggests possible improvements. Faulting the postal service for cutting open hours, low worker productivity, late deliveries, throwing mail away instead of delivering it, better treatment of third-class mail than of first-class, and other problems, the article concludes that ending the postal monopoly could improve service.
