URL: http://dublincore.org/

Description:
Metadata has to do with describing data, including its context, quality, and characteristics. Born from a workshop in Dublin, Ohio in 1995, the DCMI is a collaborative venture dedicated to making it easier to find resources on the Internet. The site includes links to metadata creation tools, the DCMI registry database "designed to enable users to explore the DCMI vocabulary" (available in nearly twenty languages), and information on working groups and recommended specifications.
