Radiation -- Safety measures

Guidance: Potassium Iodide as a Thyroid Blocking Agent in Radiation Emergencies view detail comment email this

This site from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration provides information "regarding the safe and effective use of potassium iodide (KI) as an adjunct to other public health protective measures in the event that radioactive iodine is released into the environment." The report points out that "evacuation, sheltering, and control of contaminated foodstuffs" are even more crucial prevention measures (aside from not exploding radioactive devices in the first place).
