Charities American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP) A goal of this organization is to "research and evaluate the efficiency, accountability, and governance of nonprofit organizations." The AIP's Charity Rating Guide , which evaluates about 400 American charities and groups them into categories, is designed to help you maximize the effectiveness of your charitable contributions. This site lists 150 of the top-rated charities from the Guide .
