Information about the portion of California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (known as Proposition 65) relating to labeling ceramic dishes with a potential for causing lead poisoning. Researchers Get to the Root of Cassava's Cyanide-Producing Abilities view detail comment email this

Describes how "the roots and leaves of poorly processed cassava plants contain a substance that, when eaten, can trigger the production of cyanide." Eating improperly processed cassava can lead to cyanide poisoning in the form of a goiter, "a debilitating, irreversible paralytic disorder called Konzo," and even death.
