Founded in 1897, the Forward is the most distinguished Yiddish publication in the United States. Originally a daily newspaper, it is now published weekly in both Yiddish and English. Its mission is preserving Yiddish literature. Writers such as Isaac Bashevis Singer, Elie Wiesel, and Abraham Cahan began their careers writing for the Forward .
