Asia -- Civilization From Silk to Oil: Cross-Cultural Connections Along the Silk Roads This curriculum guide about Asian trading routes, particularly in China, "begins in the second century BCE and ends in the contemporary period. Its twenty-three curriculum units teach the Silk Roads through geography, history, religion, literature, and the arts." Units include lesson plans, study questions, photographs, statistics, and maps. "Supplementary Materials" includes a glossary and lists of additional resources. The site is a companion to an exhibit of manuscripts, paintings, artifacts, and textiles about the "real people" along the route. It presents illustrated essays on the development of the book, languages and scripts, Buddhas and bodhisattvas, games, and the sky.
