As we reported in March 2006, LII's primary funding was reduced by fifty percent for the 2006-2007 fiscal year, which began July 1. The most noticeable changes are that we have reduced weekly content production by half, we have reduced content maintenance, and we have ceased assigning Library of Congress subject headings to our items (except on request for special, externally-funded projects). We are still assigning local LII topics to new items.
We have been working hard behind scenes to address our budget cut so we can restore our newsletter and content maintenance to previous levels. In March we also conducted a user survey which received over 6,000 responses and which has been invaluable for guiding our decisions. Please see our advertising FAQ for the first steps in response to the budget cuts.
