Websites presented in alphabetical order Alciato's "Book of Emblems": The Memorial Web Edition in Latin and English This "collection of 212 Latin emblem poems, each consisting of a motto (a proverb or other short enigmatic expression), a picture, and an epigrammatic text" by Andrea Alciato "had an enormous influence and popularity in the 16th and 17th centuries." Includes the Latin text of a 1621 edition, an English translation, a description of each picture, background about Alciato, and related material.
