"Avibase is an extensive database information system about all birds of the world, containing over 4.5 million records about 10,000 species and 22,000 subspecies of birds, including distribution information, taxonomy, synonyms in several languages and more." Each entry links to subspecies, images, and further information. The site also includes species checklists for each continent and region. Searchable and browsable by Latin family name. Available in several languages. From an ornithologist.

This site features a database of thousands of bird specimen records from nearly three dozen North American biocollections, most of which are available online. Collection data may be searched by factors such as scientific name, location, and date collected. The project is funded by the National Science Foundation and is led by individuals at the University of Kansas and the University of California, Berkeley.
