Known for their humorous explorations of public tastes in art, Russians Vitaly Komar and Aleksander Melamid founded the Asian Elephant Art and Conservation Project . The book When Elephants Paint describes their promotion of art created by elephants to raise funds for elephant conservation. The site provides photographs of the elephant artists and their work.

This is the Web site of "America's first natural habitat refuge developed specifically for endangered Asian elephants." Resources include information about elephants, a photo gallery, elephant biographies, global elephant news, school curriculum units, and a newsletter. Includes a Webcam, "EleCam." The sanctuary, located in Hohenwald, Tennessee, is a nonprofit "designed specifically for old, sick, or needy elephants who have been retired from zoos and circuses."
