Websites presented in alphabetical order Alaska State Trails Program Features information about the more than 40 land- and water-based trails in Alaska. Details about the trails can be browsed alphabetically, geographically, or by type of transportation used on the trail. Trail profiles include images, descriptions, maps, directions, activities, and links to related sites. Browsable by region or by desired experience (winter, beach, lake, or hikes with lookouts, peaks, rivers, waterfalls, or wildflowers). Photos of the sights afforded by the various hikes are available. Users can search or browse the resources, which are arranged both under general topics, such as knots, techniques, huts and lodging, or equipment, and by continent and country. The Dutch hiker who maintains this site also has a section called Henk's Hikes that describes his walks and hikes and is a delight to browse. Images and maps of each walk are included for most of the walks. Site also includes related travel information. The site includes a searchable trail guide and guides to Northwest flora and fauna. "Northwest Hiker's Notebook" includes trail etiquette, maps, wilderness regulations, fees, and weather advice. "Backcountry Kitchen" consists of user-submitted recipes.
