Websites presented in alphabetical order Forward Founded in 1897, the Forward is the most distinguished Yiddish publication in the United States. Originally a daily newspaper, it is now published weekly in both Yiddish and English. Its mission is preserving Yiddish literature. Writers such as Isaac Bashevis Singer, Elie Wiesel, and Abraham Cahan began their careers writing for the Forward . The Web site features news related to the American and international Jewish community and links to publications from all over the world that cover Jewish news. The five images, which are accompanied by full annotations, demonstrate how biblical imagery was used to comment on social and economic issues of the day.
