In 1904, St. Louis, Missouri, marked the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase with a world's fair. The city also hosted the 1904 Olympics. The site commemorates these events with an illustrated overview of the fair, images of artifacts, and a "virtual fair," which includes a fairground map and photographs of the structures and exhibitions. Information from a research project of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), NASA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the University of New Orleans "investigating coastal change that occurred as a result of Hurricane Katrina." Includes results of "aerial video, still photography, and laser altimetry surveys of post-storm beach conditions ... collected August 31 and September 1, 2005 for comparison with earlier data."
