AILLA is a searchable and browsable "archive of recordings and texts in and about the indigenous languages of Latin America." Features "recordings of naturally-occurring discourse in a wide range of genres, including narratives, ceremonies, oratory, conversations, and songs. Many of these recordings are accompanied by transcriptions." Also includes information about the hundreds of indigenous languages. Registration (free) required. The Chumash are a California Native American tribe that can be traced back thousands of years. This site shows the history of the Chumash through a timeline, highlighting food, medicine, myths, games, dances, language, and cave painting. [John Peabody] Harrington during the first half of the twentieth century. ... Well over half of an estimated 500,000 pages are on California Indian languages." Also called Puget Sound Salish or Lushootseed, this "is the traditional language of the Muckleshoot people and was spoken throughout the Puget Sound Basin" of Washington state.
