"Baseball manager Tony La Russa and his wife, Elaine, co-founded ARF [located in Walnut Creek, California] in 1991 after he rescued a terrified stray cat that ran onto the field during an A's-Yankees game." The site provides information about animals available for adoption, and ARF programs and events. Located in Kanab, Utah, the mission of this very large animal shelter is "to help bring about a time when there are no more homeless pets, and when every cat or dog who's ever born can be guaranteed a good home with a loving family." The site provides an overview of this refuge for unwanted, abused, sick, or elderly adoptable animals. There are stories of people helping animals and a discussion of the no-kill philosophy.

"There are 64 dog breeds with reported congenital deafness." Dalmatians have the highest incidence. The Fund's mission is to educate about and provide funding for improving and saving the lives of all deaf dogs.
