"The Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) Low Frequency Active (LFA) is a new sonar" that, according to the Navy Fleet Commanders in Chief "is a crucial element of the Navy's anti-submarine warfare (ASW) force and is an asset required for our national security."
