Each year, about 3,000 pregnancies are affected by these birth defects." Provides a FAQ, website links, and fact sheets on topics such as genetics, folic acid, hip function, and educational issues. From the Spina Bifida Association, which promotes the prevention of the defect and provides resources for those affected by it.

Members of this interdisciplinary society study "the causes and biological processes leading to abnormal development and birth defects ... and appropriate measures for prevention." The site provides links to scientific societies, government agencies, related journals, and sources for research funding. Just for Students provides information and bibliographical references on these types of teratogenic agents: industrial, agricultural, natural, pharmaceutical, metabolic, and recreational. It also offers a detailed History of Teratology and vocational guidance in the field, including profiles of scientists working in public health, industry, and medicine.
