The historical maps are divided into time periods beginning with before 1826 for regions and topics. Those for Alabama also include counties, geology, rivers, and state highways. Maps of the Pimería: Early Cartography of the Southwest view detail comment email this

"Pimería was a province or region--never precisely defined--of Spanish colonial Mexico encompassing what is now southern Arizona and northern Sonora, the name being derived from the Pima Indians who live in the region." This site includes over twenty-five maps, ranging in date from 1556 to 1854. Each map features a description and information about the cartographer; some also have brief historical background notes.
