While there is no original content on the site, the variety and wide range of material makes this an excellent find for those of us enamored of the written word. http://www.aldaily.com/ Topics: Arts and Humanities, Arts and Humanities, Literature & Books, Magazines, Nonfiction by Genre, Philosophy Last updated Aug 10, 2009 Museum of Bad Art (MOBA) MOBA "is the world's only museum dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition, and celebration of bad art in all its forms." The site exhibits some of MOBA's portraits, landscapes, and portrayals of "unseen forces"; the collection is composed of works with "a special quality that sets them apart in one way or another from the merely incompetent." The commentary and staff interviews about these treasures (many from thrift stores and trash heaps) cleverly spoof gallery-speak. http://www.museumofbadart.org Topics: Arts and Humanities, Arts and Humanities, Humor, Museums, Museums by Place: United States, Nonfiction by Genre, Philosophy, Sports, Recreation, & Entertainment Last updated Nov 23, 2004 Science of Music: Accidental Scientist "What is music? Is birdsong music? How about the tap-tap-tap of a hammer, or the wail of a creaking door? Is playing a garbage can different than playing a drum? Explore the science of music with us, through these online exhibits, movies, and questions. Along the way, you can compose, mix, dance, drum, experiment, and above all ... listen." From the Exploratorium. http://www.exploratorium.edu/music/ Topics: Arts and Humanities, Birds, Music, Philosophy Last updated Apr 25, 2005 |
